There's daily and economy parking, local food and wares, and plentiful lodging options close by that offer complimentary shuttles.

And if you need to rent a car, the kiosks are in the terminal.

The east Mesa airport is growing, welcoming a record 1.9 million passengers in 2022-23 and adding more destinations like nonstop service to Portland, Oregon via Allegiant Air.

Where is Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport?

The terminal is at 6033 S. Sossaman Road, Mesa. It’s about 36 miles southeast of central Phoenix.

What airlines fly out of Mesa Gateway Airport?

As of July 2023, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport offers flights from two airlines: Allegiant Air and Sun Country Airlines.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air is by far Gateway Airport’s biggest carrier, offering nonstop service to nearly 50 destinations. It transported just under 1.8 million of the airport’s 1.9 million passengers during the 2022-23 fiscal year which runs from July to June.

Sun Country offers nonstop service to seven cities from Mesa: Tucson; Miami; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Nashville, Tennessee; Reno, Nevada; Tampa, Florida; and the airline’s home city of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Does Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport have TSA PreCheck?

Yes. TSA PreCheck is available for expedited screening of Allegiant Air passengers at Gateway Airport.

It's one of three Arizona airports to offer PreCheck, along with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Tucson International Airport.

Unlike Sky Harbor, Gateway Airport is not a PreCheck enrollment center.

What restaurants and bars are at the Mesa airport?

Travelers have four dining options at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, including two with bars serving beer, wine and cocktails:

  • Macayo’s Mexican Food: A local chain with 10 locations in metro Phoenix, Macayo's Mexican Food has been a part of the region's culinary scene since 1946, specializing in tacos, burritos and chimichangas. It’s near Gate 5.

  • Infusion Coffee & Tea Crafters: The menu at this local shop includes espresso, americano, cappuccino and cold brew. It has two kiosks at the airport, one near Gate 5 and another near baggage claim.

  • Panera Bread: The national chain of bakery-cafes offers sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries. Its Gateway Airport location is between Gates 6 and 7.

  • O.H.S.O. Brewery: Craft beers on tap, burgers and salads are on the menu at this local favorite that's between Gates 7 and 8.

What shops are at Mesa Gateway Airport?

Gateway Airport has two retail kiosks with convenience items and travel supplies:

  • Tripadvisor: This shop bearing the brand of the popular travel website features travel comforts like neck pillows and headphones, as well as snacks and sodas. It’s near Gate 5.

  • Saguaro Mercantile: This gift shop specializes in regional and local specialties, like Sonoran Desert honey from Tempe-based Rango Honey and apparel from Scottsdale's Twenty6 Designs. It also sells travel essentials. The shop is near Gate 7.

All these hotels offer shuttle service to the airport, according to Gateway Airport’s website. Check with the hotel for availability.

What is the cost of parking at Mesa Gateway Airport?

Mesa Gateway Airport has more than 3,800 parking spaces in two lots:

  • Daily Lot: The closest parking lot to the terminal has 666 spaces. Parking costs $13 per day.

  • Ray Road Economy Lot: This lot about 2 miles from the terminal has 3,894 uncovered parking spots and 200 covered parking spots. It costs $9 per day to park in an uncovered spot and $11 per day to park in a covered spot. The airport operates a free shuttle to the terminal.

Short-term parking near the terminal is also available in the hourly express lot at the intersection of Sossaman Road and Texas Avenue, which costs $1 per half-hour. People picking up passengers can wait at the cellphone lot at 5250 S. Sossaman Road.

Rental car companies at Mesa Gateway Airport

Alamo, National, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Hertz have car rental locations at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Pickup kiosks are across from baggage claim, and the rental car pickup area is outside the terminal's west side.

Off-site car rentals are available from Avis and Budget at Superstition Springs Center, about 8 miles from the airport.
