Ulta Beauty Launched a Frida Kahlo Collection in Honor of Her Birthday

Happy birthday, Frida Kahlo!

Frida Kahlo may have passed in 1954, but the painter's work remains as influential as ever. Following news of a Frida Kahlo line of Vans, Ulta announced it also intends to celebrate the history-making artist, and unveiled a Frida Kahlo beauty collection.

The line in question features nine different makeup items inspired by Kahlo, including its Signature Box, which contains a 12-pan eye shadow palette, Liquid Lipstick in four shades, Frida Heart of Gold Liquid Illuminator Highlighter, Frida Perfect Cheek Duo, Frida Brow Master Palette, Frida Canvas Blurring Primer, Frida Brush Set, Frida Flower Headband, and finally, the Frida Cosmetic Bag. What's more: Prices fall between $10 and $30, with the most expensive item being the brush set at thirty smackers.

In an exclusive statement to Allure, the senior vice president of merchandising at Ulta Beauty, Monica Arnaudo, stated:

"Frida Kahlo continues to be an iconic and inspirational figure and it is such an honor to have created a collection that captures her passion, free spirit and unapologetic approach to self-expression. This collection proves that bold is beautiful and we hope it will empower our guests to express themselves with the same confidence that Frida embraced."

Ulta certainly isn't the first brand to take inspiration from the artist for a line of products. In 2017, Missha Tension released a compact that paid homage to the painter, and a previously released Barbie doll from Mattel had faced backlash for its appearance, as many felt the doll's lack of facial hair made for a less than accurate portrayal of Kahlo.

As for when you can get your hands on the Ulta Beauty collection in stores, it's set to drop nationwide on July 22, so be sure to set those reminders. In the meantime, check out the full line on ulta.com now.
