An emergency call to a UK lifeboat service prompted a daring rescue on Monday. However, when the lifesaving crew arrived, the subject of the call turned out to be a partially deflated Baby Yoda balloon.

The “rescue” took place in Embleton Bay, located off the shore of Northumberland, on the northeast coast of England. On Monday evening, the Craster Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station was called to respond to a report of a large object in the water, prompting a four-man crew to scramble towards what may have been a kite surfer in distress.

However, when they arrived, they quickly located a large silver object that turned out to be a balloon in the shape of Grogu, the diminutive Star Wars character affectionately known as “Baby Yoda.”

“The Millennium Falcon had obviously left the scene,” said volunteer Andy Cowan to the BBC.

However, the volunteers clarified that whoever called in the report still did the right thing, as it very well could have been a more serious situation. “We respond to everything,” added Cowan. “The mystery object could have been a kite surfer, a paraglider or a watersports enthusiast.”

In fact, the same crew responded to another call earlier that day, when two adults and two children became trapped by the high tide in a nearby harbor. Upon finding actual humans, rather than Star Wars merchandise, the Craster RNLI crew promptly rescued the four swimmers and brought them to shore intact.
