- The 2020 Oscars are being held in Los Angeles, California, tonight.
- It's raining so much that the roof is caving in on the red carpet at the Academy Awards.
We're less than three hours away from watching Brad Pitt and Laura Dern absolutely kill it on the Oscars red carpet! But in the meantime, let's take a look at how the red carpet is literally falling apart because it's raining so much. No exaggeration, the roof is caving in as we speak. Yes, it does rain in Los Angeles!
Unfortunately, it seems as though the 5-day forecast was not taken into account when planning this event because the plastic roof hanging over the carpet has become a mini pool. And according to The New YorkTimes and one panicked photographer, the tarps are beginning to leak. Please witness the utter chaos going down right now:
The poor life-size Oscar trophies had to be wrapped up in some creepy cellophane wrapping and I, for one, will never recover from this haunting image:
(This is my—and every red carpet intern's—nightmare.)
Some of the event staff have taken to using long poles to push the plastic roof up and try to make the rain slide down. Uh, hopefully that plan works because if not, everything might collapse and all the celebs may end up looking like Mia Thermopolis in her broken-down car.
So some men on a podium are poking the huge pools of water gathering in the plastic ceiling over the red carpet - they’re forcing the water to com splashing down. There’s a lot of it. #Oscars pic.twitter.com/TmXaZJj9lu— BBC News Entertainment (@BBCNewsEnts) February 9, 2020
