UDOT Issues Travel Warning For Skiers Of Snowbird And Alta

The Utah Department Of Transportation issued a Road Update regarding travelers of the State Route 210, aka the SR210.

UDOT wrote to X (twitter) just a few hours earlier today, "Consider a departure from Snowbird and Alta before the 12:30pm avalanche mitigation closure and conditions worsen."

"If you're departing after closure, be prepared for heavy PM delays due to high volumes of traffic & road snow."

Their website shows a general Road Weather Alert, statewide, with with heavy snow in Southern Utah.

Both Canyons (Big and Little Cottonwood) also require approved traction devices right now, according to the posted advisories.

The forecast from now until 6pm today reads: Mountain snow and valley rain/snow is continuing across Utah. Many mountain passes across the state will continue to see periods of road snow through Wednesday afternoon. Higher passes across Southern Utah are already seeing significant road snow with more to come through the day.

Lower valley routes including portions of I-15 and US-89 in Southern Utah will see light road snow/slush through Wednesday morning. 

At least light road snow can be expected into early Wednesday for Northern mountain routes and the Wasatch Back.

Snow showers will be ongoing Wednesday night and continue through Thursday/Friday as colder air moves into the state. A new or updated Road Weather Alert can be expected to cover this time period.
