December is finally here, and it's officially time to start dreaming of a white Christmas. Depending on where you live, that might be a reasonable wish, but if you live in certain parts of the United States, you're going to have to hit the road in search of snow.

Car rental company SIXT has narrowed down the list for you, with the top 10 destinations in the U.S. most likely to have a white Christmas. They studied U.S. Climate Normals from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to put together their list, so you can start making holiday travel plans now.

Top Spots in the U.S. for a White Christmas 2023

  1. Fairbanks, Alaska, 100% chance

  2. Duluth, Minnesota, 92.2% chance

  3. Bozeman, Montana, 91.1% chance

  4. Marquette, Michigan, 88.2% chance

  5. Caribou, Maine, 87.2% chance

  6. Idaho Falls, Idaho, 80.1% chance

  7. Fargo, North Dakota, 77.6% chance

  8. Eau Claire, Wisconsin, 72.3% chance

  9. Burlington, Vermont, 62.3% chance

  10. Montrose, Colorado, 45% chance

It is probably no surprise that Fairbanks comes in at #1. After all, the Alaska town has only seen one snowless Christmas since records were kept, and that was in 1934. Duluth is your next best bet, but be prepared for frigid temperatures, as it is normally between 0 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit on December 25. Bozeman, Montana, sees 63 to 82 inches of snow per year, so you'll likely see some on Christmas Day.

What do you think? If you're not in for a White Christmas where you live, is it worth hitting the road?
