This U.S. City Has the Most Expensive Babysitter Rates

You told yourself you'd be the kind of parent who always prioritized date nights. But then you became a parent and actually had to contend with the cost of babysitting.

That's why we were intrigued by the findings from a recent study conducted by UrbanSitter to find the average cost of a babysitter in 2019. They polled 28,000 families across the U.S. to calculate the typical spend. And while the national average -- $16.75/hr -- ain't cheap, some cities are particularly pricey.

The city with the most expensive (read: unaffordable) rate? Surprise, surprise: It's San Francisco.

Yep, if parents in the city by the bay want a night out, the cost is $18.75 per hour for one kid and a whopping $21.30 an hour for two.

That means a family of four is spending over $100 for five hours of child care. Damn.

And we thought New Yorkers had it bad
