This U.S. City Has the Most Aggressive Holiday Drivers, According to GasBuddy

Drivers in Tucson, Arizona, are naughty, indeed.

He's making his list, and checking it twice, and he will absolutely find out if you've been naughty or nice. And if you live in Tucson, Arizona, odds are you're going to end up on the naughty list.

GasBuddy, a fuel savings platform that helps drivers identify lower gas prices along their route, unveiled its "Naughtiest and Nicest Holiday Driving Cities" study. To figure out who will end up with coal in their stockings this year, the platform compiled data using its own opt-in Drives Feature in the GasBuddy app, which provides users with an assessment of their driving habits to help improve their fuel efficiency. It also maps out where the user may have exhibited poor driving habits.

GasBuddy examined 8,149,863 drives in the top 50 metropolitan areas by population using the data, noting all events of fast acceleration, hard braking, and speeding during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.

According to the findings, everyone needs to chill out just a little over the holidays. GasBuddy revealed that "U.S. drivers are up to 48 percent more aggressive on the roads during the holiday season." However, it also showed that those driving through Tucson are the most aggressive of all.

Tucson was followed by Nashville in second place, with two Floridian cities, Orlando and Jacksonville, in third and fourth place, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 are New Orleans; Richmond, Virginia; Salt Lake City; Buffalo, New York; Memphis, Tennessee; and Oklahoma City.

As for who is getting exactly what they wished for this season, the city with the least aggressive drivers is Minneapolis. Other cities in the top 10 nicest included Providence, Rhode Island, in second, followed by Portland, Oregon; Seattle; Cleveland; Norfolk, Virginia; Hartford, Connecticut; Las Vegas; Rochester, New York; and Columbus, Ohio.

"Driving during the holiday season can be stressful, but it's important to remember to stay calm and courteous on the road," Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, shared in a statement obtained by Travel + Leisure.

DeHaan added one more compelling point: "Additionally, aggressive driving can negatively impact fuel efficiency, causing drivers to waste money that could be spent on holiday celebrations or gifts for loved ones."
