It’s no secret supermodel Tyra Banks loves to help other’s achieve their dreams — she has built a successful empire on it. Gearing up the new season of her hit competition show America’s Next Top Model, Banks decided to reply to some aspiring models by offering them hope in 280 characters or less, via Twitter.

Thursday night, the mother of one replied directly to some of her fans and gave them tips and words of encouragement.

One of them was 18-year-old Mia Bayer. The Michigan native tweeted to Banks, but she tells Yahoo Lifestyle she never thought the international model would even see her plea.

She wrote: “Why can’t you be 5’1 and successful in modeling? My dreams are 9” out of my control @tyrabanks @ANTMVH1

Then the nearly unthinkable happened, Bayer got a response from her idol. Banks replied: “Those eyebrows of yours are amazing and you know how to model that fierce face of yours. Screw the agencies and build your following on social media. Once you start to stack up followers, they’ll be begging to sign you, no matter your height. Good luck! Ty #TyraTaughtMe”

Bayer has always wanted to be in front of the camera. As a child, she did some modeling jobs, but once she stopped growing, the bookings stopped as well.

“The older I got, the less and less I was contacted,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I had taken a couple of pictures that I thought were really nice and I had posted them on Twitter with a caption about how my dreams were 9 inches out of my control and I tagged Tyra in them, but of course millions of people do that and never get a response, and I didn’t expect one.”

About 15 minutes after she posted it, Banks replied. “I was speechless because obviously she is such a role model as a person and a model, and so many people aspire to be like her,” says Bayer. “I’ve gotten so much positive feedback from people, and Tyra’s words really gave me a kick-start for my dreams and hopefully I can make it someday and be a role model for all the petite woman in the world and show them that it’s possible for anybody if you work for it and that they all have potential.”

Here are some of the other bits of advice Banks offered to her fans:

Bayer says Banks’s words where the encouragement she needed to not give up on her dreams.

“Maybe Tyra just kick-started my career — and I am forever grateful that she took time out of her day to notice me,” she says.
