Tyler Stanaland has been a familiar face in the Wedge lineup for a long time now — he and his collection of foam boards. He’s definitely part of the movement that turned a lot of surfers into connoisseurs of foamies, and coming from a lineup where the “foam is fun” mantra reigns supreme doesn’t hurt.
The Orange County standout and once-reality star of Selling OC employs a full quiver of foam in all shapes and sizes like the rest of us would with our standard collection of boards. But this particular collection of footage features Stanaland on just one 6’0″ shape. Contrary to most Wedge edits where the status quo is watching people get absolutely wrecked on late takeoffs and missed doggy doors over dry sand, Tyler shows a knack for crafty escapes. Sure, he takes his beatings like anybody will at the Newport novelty. But he also makes the dance look a lot easier than it is.
