You may know carpenter and designer extraordinaire Ty Pennington from TLC's Trading Spaces or the original Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series. Although it’s been a few years since he's been in front of the camera, he hasn’t stopped doing what he loves: renovating homes. Now Pennington is making his return to TV and his HGTV debut with an all new feel-good series... but with a twist.

Yesterday, the network announced that this new series, titled Ty Breaker, had been given the production green light. The eight-episode installment will follow Pennington as he helps well-deserving families find their dream homes. But here's the catch: the family must choose whether or not they want to revamp their existing home, or move on to an entirely different home to renovate.

Here’s where his costars come in! In each episode, Pennington will be pushing families to stay put in their original homes (after all, he has pulled off a few extreme makeovers in his day), while his costars will be pushing the family to give up their home and start from scratch. Fellow HGTV stars Alison Victoria from Windy City Rehab, Grace Mitchell from One of a Kind, and Sabrina Soto from The High Low Project will rotate as Pennington’s cohosts throughout the series.

"I am so happy to be back in my element on Ty Breaker—helping people to not only love their space but showing them how to LIVE in it,” Pennington said in a statement from the network. “We’ll address challenges that families face every day, but we’ll mix it up with friendly competition from my super-talented friends. You’ll see us having a lot of fun and creating killer design,” he said of the show.

Ty Breaker is slated to premiere in early 2021.
