Whether you're a seasoned backpacker or new to camping, having a reliable shelter is key. Your tent should not only give you a place to retreat past sunset but completely shield you from all the wear-and-tear you’ll face on the trail. Kammok, an Austin, Texas-based company that manufactures high-performing outdoor adventure gear, has released a new two-person tent built to separate you from the outdoor world. But what’s super neat about this tent is that it's not just a tent: It transforms into a cozy hammock (with a canopy), so you can have both a dependable shelter and a relaxing lounge area in one product.

Sunda 2.0 is currently available for sale on Kickstarter. So far, 285 people have ordered the unique, tent-to-hammock prototype. But besides the hammock feature, there are so many other pros of the Sunda 2.0. To start, it offers 34.75 sq ft of living space, which is more than enough for two adults and their gear to coexist comfortably. Not to mention, there’s even room for small children as well as the family dog. The Sunda 2.0 is also equipped with a waterproof "bathtub floor" (meaning the floor fabric extends up the sides of the tent walls, similar to a bathtub) to keep campers from getting wet. There are also two doors to allow easy entry, as well as two fly and tent body windows to maximize airflow. When it gets dark, just one lantern will do the trick, as the tent is fashioned with special light-enhancing fabric that will amplify your light source throughout.

Now for the fun part: In under 60 seconds, you'll be able to fashion this tent into a cozy hammock that curves to the natural arch of your back. The built-in canopy will protect you from the elements as you hang in the air. You can even try pitching it near water, so it feels you're gliding over it.

To purchase the Sunda 2.0, you can visit its Kickstarter page, where it is currently being sold for a $75 less than its future MSRP ($420). If you just want to support a good idea, you can also pledge money towards the project without purchasing the tent. With enough support, this tent will make its way to Kammok’s official inventory and make the way we camp even cooler.
