Two new food truck courts could soon be coming to Escambia County

A pair of local developers have proposed creating two new food truck courts in Escambia County.

One is planned for North Davis Highway and the other is proposed for Gulf Beach Highway. If approved, the two projects could provide homes for seven to 10 food trucks.

Both development proposals were filed with Escambia County on April 15.

Here’s what we know about the proposed food truck court projects.

North Davis Highway Food Truck Court

One food truck court is intended for 5513 N. Davis Highway, according to its project information form filed with the county.

Developers plan to build one of the food truck courts in a gravel lot on the corner of Duval Street and North Davis Highway that’s close to Sky’s Pizza and Ichiban. The project’s site is about 0.17 acres and developers intend to use the entire space for its food trucks, parking and potentially a bathroom, should Escambia County approve.

Developers plan for two to four food trucks to be on the site, according to its project narrative form filed with Escambia County. The project’s site plan illustration was filed with Escambia County on April 18 and includes only two food trucks in its plans.

In their project narrative form filed with Escambia County, the developers state they “plan to provide a safe and fun atmosphere for food trucks/trailers to come and provide their services to the community.”

This set of plans were discussed between the project owners and Escambia County’s Development Review Committee on Wednesday during the committee’s pre-application meetings.

The proposed project does not plan to build any permanent structures as part of its development.

Gulf Beach Highway Food Truck Court

The other food truck court is proposed for a 0.49-acre parcel at Gulf Beach Highway and Polk Avenue in Warrington, where developers plan to have five to six trucks operating and an area for tables in the middle of the site.

The proposed parcel is currently undeveloped and its address is 1851 Gulf Beach Highway, according to the proposal’s project information form filed with Escambia County.

For this project, developers plan to enclose the food truck court in a fence that wraps around the site’s perimeter.

The proposal was reviewed by the county’s Development Review Committee on Wednesday during their pre-application meetings to discuss the potential project’s next steps.
