Twitter is trolling the new Little Women official poster

When the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women was released at the end of the summer, everyone was in agreement that everything about it looked amazing. The cast was stacked (Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Timothée Chalamet, and Meryl Streep star), the tone was uplifting, and the snippets of Gerwig’s quick-witted dialogue already had us giggling. However, now that the official posters for the film have been released, Twitter is like, “Whoa, pump the brakes.”

On Tuesday, October 29th, two Little Women film posters were released to the public and met with a resounding, “Um, what?” Critics believe that the main theatrical poster is way too rom-com and barely does Louisa May Alcott’s girl-coming-into-her-own story any justice.

The horizontal photo bars introducing the cast is incredibly overdone and, as Twitter argues, reminiscent of every single romantic comedy film poster we’ve ever seen. And we love Timmy, and all. But why is he second down from the top when the film is truly about the “little women” in the March family?

Needless to say, Twitter ripped the posters apart as soon as they hit the platform.

There’s no way Greta Gerwig okayed this, right? There’s just no way!

Just look at how similar the first poster looks to romantic comedy posters. Ahem, Little Women is not *technically* a romantic comedy, Sony!

In fact, some people hate the posters so much, they decided to do some redesigning.

Okay, we kind of really dig this one.

Although many dislike the posters for Little Women, having seen the trailer first, we still have so much faith that this is going to be the best movie we see this winter.

Little Women hits theaters on Christmas Day, December 25th.
