WARNING: This story contains spoilers for the Game of Thrones finale.

The finale of Game of Thrones has finally arrived, and with it came some moments straight out of left field. Case in point: Bran was chosen to be the new King of the Seven Kingdoms. Confused? Some backstory here: After Daenerys takes King's Landing with (literally) fire and blood, she riles up her armies to keep the momentum going and "free" (read: conquer) the rest of the world. Jon Snow, with some coaching from Tyrion Lannister, kills Dany to save the kingdoms from her wrath. Her dragon, Drogon, burns the Iron Throne down, and Jon goes into hiding. With both Targaryen heirs out of the picture, who gets to be king or queen?

To sort out this conundrum, the high lords and ladies of Westeros meet in King's Landing. The gang's all here: Sansa Stark (accompanied by Arya, Bran, and Brienne), Lord Gendry of High Garden, the new prince of Dorne, Edmure Tully, Robin Arryn, and more. After a brief chat, Tyrion proposes that Bran should be king, and literally no one objects (although Sansa insists to keep the North a separate kingdom). Bran obliges ("Why do you think I came all this way?") and even makes Tyrion Hand of the King. Tyrion also notes that the people of Westeros will choose the monarchs going forward.

Considering Bran has been in Three-Eyed Raven mode for the past couple of seasons, his sudden appointment to sovereign surprised viewers. They flooded Twitter with shock and disappointment over his new role.

Then, trolling ensued.

Viewers also poked fun at the fact that Bran, as Three-Eyed Raven, probably foresaw his ascending the throne with his time-traveling skills. He's had some visions of moments in the future, (in Season 4, he saw a dragon flying over King's Landing, which ultimately was from Daenerys's conquest), but it's unclear if he can just willingly see the future whenever he wants. Either way, Twitter had a field day joking that Bran knew he was going to become king all this time.

If only we knew what his reign will be like.
