Patrick Dempsey changed up his 'do for a new role and the internet has some thoughts.

Patrick Dempsey has a whole new look!

The actor, 56, debuted a surprising look while attending Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA, on Friday, where his characteristic dark hair had been substituted for new bleach blonde locks.

During Friday's event, Dempsey was honored as a Disney Legend, along with former Grey's Anatomy costar Ellen Pompeo, Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and the late Chadwick Boseman

The Golden Globe nominee told Variety that his new 'do will be sticking around for "a few more months" as he films for the movie Ferrari, in which he plays Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi

"I love it, it's great. It's fun to do something different," Dempsey said of his new look, while acknowledging that he's gotten mixed reviews from the public.

"Unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm known for my hair," he said. "So this really has jacked up a lot of people. They don't know how to embrace it. Either they love it or they hate it."

But as he pointed out, "Blonds have more fun."

The Sweet Home Alabama actor was right about one thing, as fans on social media have also had a variety of reactions to his new platinum blond head of hair.

"What in the what is going on with Patrick Dempsey's hair???" one person tweeted, while someone else said they were "gonna need a minute to process" the new look.

More fans poked fun at the actor, claiming he was trying to get a role in House of the Dragon, where Targaryens are known for having similar white hair.

Others compared Dempsey's new hair to "cotton candy" or Ken in the Barbie movie.

Of course, plenty of his loyal fans rushed to his defense, including one Twitter user who wrote, "If your [sic] hating on Patrick Dempsey's blonde hair, leave the man alone he's hotter than you and it's for a role."

"I'm not mad at Patrick Dempsey's hair, not mad at all," someone else tweeted

"Patrick Dempsey is actually pulling off this hair," another person added

Ferrari is expected to premiere sometime in 2023.

In the meantime, Dempsey is gearing up for the long-awaited sequel to his hit film Enchanted, in which he starred alongside Amy Adams
