Twitter Is EVISCERATING Colin Jost and Michael Che for Their Emmys Opening Monologue
SNL stars Michael and Colin Jost and Michael Che hosted the Emmy Awards on Monday night, and made many jokes, some that were LOL, some that were meh, and many that were NOOOOOO. Don't get me wrong, these quips were A+ efforts! Like, it was kinda funny when they mocked This Is Us for being such a bummer, and burned Roseanne for being canceled. But twitter was deeply unimpressed:
Clhrissy Teigen ducking out of frame was funnier than anything in this monologue. #Emmys

I keep wondering why I am yawning and want to turn this off midway through, and of course, it's because I'm getting my usual Jost/Che Weekend Update Syndrome. -H #Emmys

For a second I thought the #Emmys had replaced Jost and Che with Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson at the 11th hour, and for that one second I was happy

that could have been worse.

These two hosts are far worse than Fallon at golden globes. #Emmys

Yup, that's just what I need to hear, a bunch of #MeToo jokes from two men. #emmys

This banter is awful. #Emmys

The mother just dropped her steak on the floor. It was an accident, but I'm blaming it on the host situation. #Emmys

FYI, two comedians have been co-anchoring the popular Weekend Update segment on SNL for four years now. In an interview with the Today show before the ceremony, Colin said he was nervous, but excited for the show. "I would not be able to be going through and doing this without Michael, so I'm very happy."
Michael, on the other hand, joked that he could totally do it by himself without Colin if he had to, and he told NPR in a separate interview that he wasn't nervous about it.
"If I was a fireman I'd be scared. Firemen should be afraid. ... But for comedy, we're literally going out there and we're just going to tell some jokes and people are going to like them or not," he said. "There's nothing to be afraid of."
Not only are Colin and Michel the hosts of the show, but they could walk away with trophies of their own. SNL was nominated for 21 different awards this year, including the award for outstanding writing for a variety series. So, yeah. At least there's that!
