Twitter Can’t Handle Margot Robbie and Emma Mackey Being in the ‘Barbie’ Movie Together

The cast of Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie is getting more star-studded by the day, and the internet (sorry, Film Internet) is currently spiraling due to Sex Education star Emma Mackey joining the call sheet after literal YEARS of being compared to Margot Robbie. Truly, Twitter is not okay!

The Hollywood Reporter announced this delightful news along with the fact that Will Ferrell is also joining the cast. Other A-listers in this movie? Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, and America Ferrera.

Not much is known about Barbie’s plot just yet, but apparently Will is playing the CEO of a toy company “that may or may not be Mattel,” while Margot is obviously playing Barbie. TBD on what role Emma landed, but Barbie’s sister Skipper seems like a pretty solid guess considering the two dolls look identical.

FYI, Emma spoke to PinkNews about the nonstop Margot comparisons back in 2019, saying, “I mean, it’s great, I’ll take it. But I think Margot Robbie is, first and foremost, a very brilliant actress, actor. I hope that people will see past the physical aspects of my person and focus on my job as opposed to my looks, if that’s okay with you all. But no, it’s fine, Margot Robbie is great.”
