Female Twitch streamer exposes comments she endures while playing Call of Duty: ‘I would cry’

A gamer in Call of Duty is fighting misogyny with her TikTok series aptly titled, “This is people’s reactions to finding out I’m a girl on Call of Duty.

Marie is a Twitch streamer and content creator affiliated with SoAR Gaming. Her game of choice is Call of Duty (CoD) and her specialty is quickscoping, a shooting method where players swiftly zoom into their targets with a sniper rifle then immediately snap back out after firing the shot.

The result is a rapid, one-hit-kill gameplay style that allows skilled users to rack up a short succession of kills in a short amount of time.

Marie regularly displays this skill on her TikTok account, along with the startled reactions of players in her lobbies when they learn she’s a woman.

In a six-video series on her account, Marie captured the moments male players realize they are not playing with another “dude.” Each part of the series has since racked up millions of views.

“Why are you so cracked?” another player asked Marie during a game, featured in her second video in the series.

“I don’t know,” she replied.

“Holy s***,” he said in response. “I’m uninstalling, I died to a f****** female.”

In another video, one guy, in complete awe of Marie’s skills, asked for her stream name because “ain’t no cute b**** that good at CoD.”

“If you’re cute, I’ll be surprised,” he added.

“Why do they always gotta go for what the girl looks like?” one TikTok commenter said.

“YUP,” Marie replied.

“That’s why I stay muted because I would cry,” a woman wrote in the comments.

Unfortunately, sexism remains a rampant problem in all aspects of the game industry from development and beyond. In 2012, a study from the University of Ohio found that a Halo 3 player received three times the harassment for using a female identifying profile than a male one.

Fortunately, people on TikTok seemed more preoccupied with Marie’s skills than anything else.

“Marie too good,” a TikTok commenter wrote.

“They ain’t lying when they say u a different breed,” another commenter wrote.

If you’re interested in learning how to quickscope, it all starts with your class loadout. Make sure you pick up all the mods that boost your aim sight speed.

After that, it’s just a matter of placing your cursor on your target before you scope — or slightly ahead if you’re tracking a fast-moving opponent.

Happy gaming!
