Twin Bed IKEA Hack Makes Perfect DIY King Bed

This family completely hacked guest room furniture and we are totally here for it. Never again will we spend hundreds of dollars on a giant king bed! Instead, run to IKEA where they have the best basic pieces and build the king bed all on your own. We promise it works.

Instagram page @beforecraft posts all of the best before and after transformations of interior design and this one definitely caught their eye. Creator Anne Marie Williams aka @champagne.chaos on Instagram, stunned the interior design community with this trick that totally transformed her family's guest room. Everybody, take notes.

For her family's guest room, Anne Marie wanted to have one big bed in the center of the room as the focal point and design everything else around that. She had enough room for a king-sized bed but let's be honest, those frames and mattresses cost way too much for the average person.

So instead, Anne Marie put on her creative cap and got to thinking. What if instead of a king-sized bed, she pushed two twin beds together, making it easy to separate back into two beds if need be? This was definitely the move and she got to work right away.

Annie Marie picked up two twin trundle beds from IKEA with their own individual mattresses and pushed the two together in the center of the room. For the inevitable mattress gap in the center, she used a bed bridge, aka the most genius invention ever. You can easily find one online for around $30.

After that, all she had to do was put on her king-sized bedding and a king-sized mattress topper to really make the two into one. The only thing giving away the two twin beds was the footboard split at the bottom of the frames so to cover that, Anne Marie picked up two king-sized upholstered headboards, one for the bottom of the bed and one for the top.

The best part? Each twin bed has a pull-out trundle bed on the side, so this entire contraption can fit an entire family! Basically, this is the idea cousin sleepover room and we are so jealous.
