A television adaptation of the beloved vampy series is in 'early development.'

This is the series of a killer, Bella.

A new adaptation of the infamous teen romance series is in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's shaping up to be a Twilight Renaissance Rennaissance, but don't break out your body glitter just yet; Sources tell the publication that the best-selling fantasy tale is still in "early development" at Lionsgate Television. The project currently has no network or platform attached, nor even a writer. Lionsgate, the studio which produced the film franchise, plans to head up development on the new series prior to shopping it around.

Unfortunately, there's no timeline for that just yet, but sources add that author Stephenie Meyer is slated to participate in the series in a currently undisclosed role.

Former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig, who snapped up the rights to the series at Summit Entertainment after Paramount Pictures passed, and Wyck Godfrey, whose studio produced the films, are on board as executive producers.

Twilight was first published in 2005, with the first film coming just three years later in 2008. The series starred Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, skyrocketing all three to household names practically overnight.

Understandably, some loyal fans of the original trio are torn over the news:

But the original stars are in their early to mid-30s now, meaning they would not be the best fit for a group of eternal teenagers.

Others are just over the constant revivals, with one replying, "The groan I just let out. I'm BEGGING Hollywood to get new ideas."

"Divergent or the hunger games will be the next series to get a reboot," another hypothesized.

With a Harry Potter series in the work at HBO, some are just a bit burnt out over the sudden resurgence of the pop culture of the early aughts.
