Twilight Fans, Rejoice: Stephenie Meyer’s Novel Midnight Sun Is Finally Being Released

Twilight fans are about to be very excited, because come August 4, a new book by Stephenie Meyer is coming. That’s right: The long-rumored Midnight Sun—which retells the story of the first Twilight book but from Edward Cullen’s point of view instead of Bella Swan’s—is actually happening.

“It feels strange to be making this announcement when the world is suffering through a pandemic, and no one really knows what’s next. I thought seriously about delaying this announcement until things were back to normal; however, that felt wrong, considering how long those who are eager for this book have already waited,” Meyer said in a press release. “I know how much I personally need distractions right now, how much I need something to look forward to, and most of all, how much I need more books to read. So, I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, after it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while. I can’t express how much I appreciate the patience of my readers, and their support over the years it took to finish Midnight Sun.”

“This unforgettable tale, as told through Edward’s eyes, takes on a new and decidedly dark twist,” the release states. “Meeting Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his many years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life.”

We. Are. Intrigued.

The Twilight saga, including the books and the films starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, was a massive international sensation, so it’s no surprise Twi-hards are freaking out over this news of a new book, 15 years after the first novel came out in 2005.

We can’t wait for a brand-new round of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.
