TWICE's Jihyo Has Actually Been Planning Her New Red Hair For Months

On August 9, K-pop group TWICE put on their first-ever digital concert for fans all around the world, and several members showed off new dye jobs after doing their best to hide their hair from fans for days. Momo went classic blue; Tzuyu's hair is now what I can best describe as coral-y bronde, Chaeyoung's is smoky platinum, and Sana's has more of a soft copper brown now. Jihyo also colored her hair cherry red — just as she planned.

Back in February, the leader of the nonet tipped me off on her dye job agenda when we sat down for an interview in Seoul, South Korea, for her Allure cover. (Sorry for accidentally keeping this secret from you, ONCE.) At the time, Jihyo's hair was blonde, and she's experimented with various shades since then, including a rosy-tinted hue

"Dyeing my hair a very light color was on my bucket list — even before I became a singer," Jihyo shared. "I'm glad I finally did it. At first, I thought it wouldn't look good on me, but it's better than I thought."

Bleaching her hair was just to prepare herself for her dream color, though: red. Jihyo's thought process was blonde is essentially a blank slate, so she could try all different colors before dyeing her hair red. Although she's stayed in the blonde and pink families for the past ten months, Jihyo has finally gotten to her destination. "After I try red, I won't dye my hair any other color," the TWICE member explained. "I heard that's the hardest color to remove, and I don't think it would look bad on me." (She's right about both.)

The only thing is Jihyo mentioned she wanted to go "really red," so I expect her to have more of a GFriend's SinB candy apple in the near future. But for now, I'm sure Jihyo is pleased with her deeper scarlet shade. "I always dyed my hair a wine color when I was in middle school and high school," Jihyo recalled. "People around me said it looked good on me, so I want to try it again."
