Numerology is the belief that numbers (and letters) are alive and kicking with their own energy and unique traits. Practitioners say the numbers and letters associated with you influence your story. Numerology studies the connection these numbers and letters have with our character and our life’s events. Everything is connected, people! We are all vibrating on the same ~wavelength.~

The birth of modern numerology occurred way, way back in the sixth century. A Greek philosopher and mathematician, Pythagoras, believed that numbers resonate with the vibrations of the universe. He thought that everything related back to numbers, and that each digit pulsates with a different vibrational energy. He taught that this energy links us to the stars, the planets, and the Universe.

We all have different numbers, derived from our name and birthday. One of these is our Relationship Number.

Your Relationship Number is derived from the letters of your name and describes the nature of your relationships, how you deal with others, and what you need.

How do I find out my Relationship Number?

Focus on the name you go by, not necessarily the one on your birth certificate. If you use a nickname, go with that. Similarly, if you changed your last name after marriage, you can use either your birth name or married name, whichever you feel most at home with.

Then, attribute a number to each letter. Use the table below to see which number the letters in your name correspond to. Write them all down and add them together, until you can reduce to a final number between 1-9. This, my friend, is your Relationship Number.

For example, Meghan Markle=4+5+7+8+1+5+4+1+9+2+3+5=54=5+4=9

So, what does it all mean?

Number 1

More is better, in your book. You draw people in with your confidence and charisma. You make friends easily, BUT you don’t really like them getting too close. You’d rather have a wide circle of casual friends than a handful of super-close pals. In love, you can be spontaneous and headstrong. You like to be admired and if you feel you’re not Numero Uno for the object of your affection, you’re outta there.

You get on well with 1s, 2s, 5s, and 9s.

Number 2

You crave intensity and close connections in your relationships. The tighter the bond, the better. You need to feel physically and emotionally close to your partners, and you like all the traditional trappings of romance and relationships. You are super empathetic and protective, but also very sensitive. You retreat into yourself if you feel insecure.

You get on well with 2s, 4s, 6s, and 8s.

Number 3

You’re an entertainer and a social butterfly. In romance, you’ve got a ~seductive~ presence. Conquests come (and go…) easily. You don’t like to be tied down, and you’re always on the lookout for an interesting new person to hook up with. You can be flighty and fickle. You have a penchant for someone new and exciting over a LTR or longtime BFF.

You get on well with 1s, 5s, 7s, and 8s.

Number 4

You are practical, disciplined, and consistent. You like order and organization, even in your closest relationships. Peace and harmony are very important to you, and you avoid dramz and conflicts. Sometimes, though, you yearn for a passionate encounter and, if things get a little too quiet and easy, you’re likely to shake it all up.

You get on well with 2s, 4s, 6s, and 8s.

Number 5

Variety is your catnip. You are intellectual, witty, and sharp. You have a long line of people who want to hang out with you, which is good because you get bored easily. You need a partner who can entertain you, keep up with you, give you acres of space, and not expect you to be by their side (or even reachable) 24/7.

You get on well with 1s, 5s, 8s, and 9s.

Number 6

You’re a people-pleaser, reluctant to engage in any type of conflict. You are laid-back and like your relationships be calm and even-keeled. You prioritize your friendships and like to be in stable and long-term romances, building a happy ~nest~ together where you feel safe and secure.

You get on well with 2s, 4s, 6s, and 8s.

Number 7

You’re a bit of a dreamer, but your vivid, romantic imagination can create issues in relationships because you nurture idealized and perfectionist visions of love. You are charming and sensitive, and you fall in love easily… it’s keeping relationships going that causes the headaches. Things seem better in your imagination than in real life. Yup.

You get on well with 3s, 5s, 7s, and 9s.

Number 8

You’re a power player: decisive, controlling, driven, and organised. You can be a bit overbearing in romantic relationships because you like things your own way. Chill out a bit. Trust is vital—you need to feel your partner is 100 percent in, or you get antsy. Your persistence in making things work can usually overcome most obstacles.

You get on well with 2s, 3s, 4s, and 6s.

Number 9

A free spirit! You’re super-friendly and easy-going, with a big circle of friends and acquaintances. You’re rarely in one place for long, though, which can make commitment an issue. You hate being tied down. You like to roam and explore. But with an equally creative and free-spirited partner, you could be happy.

You get on well with 1s, 2s, 5s, and 7s.
