Turns Out, Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten Aren't as Crazy in Love as We Thought

Dancing With the Stars fans and relationship shippers of Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten are not going to like what Alan and fellow pro dancer Witney Carson said about the pair.

Even though the finalists were all about the PDA during season 27 of the show (and even shared a steamy kiss on one episode), Alan basically made it sound like the two are in a "wait and see" situation at the moment.

The 411 on what Alan said about Alexis ...

"You know, we're talking," Alan told ET with a nod and a shrug. "She's in Japan right now and I'm about to go on tour, so we'll see."

But what really made things awkward is when Witney, who is traveling with Alan for Dancing With the Stars: Live! A Night to Remember Tour, hinted that she wouldn't be super shocked if Alan and Alexis didn't end up together.

Witney gave her two cents, and *CRINGE* ...

"It's like The Bachelor. It never really quite works after [the show is done]," Witney added, referring to the many DWTS showmances that have happened over the years. When Alan shot back and asked Witney what she meant, she replied, "I just mean, like you guys are going on to different things!"

Thankfully, Alan did say that he would "of course" be asking Alexis to come see their live show - a sign that, hopefully, that some sparks are still flying.

Still, all of this is a far cry from how Alan and Alexis sounded right after the DWTS finale back in November. When the show ended, both agreed that they were excited to "hang out and do whatever" and "be normal for a while." But perhaps their jam-packed schedules are getting in the way of all that.

Meanwhile, Alexis is having a blast in Japan ...

While Alan is off dancing all over the country, Alexis appears to be living her best life in Japan, according to her latest Instagrams. One picture in particular, though, has some fans wondering if the caption is meant to be about Alan.

"I no longer force things. What flows, flows. I only have space and energy for things that are meant for me," she wrote. Of course, it could be about Alan ... but it likely wouldn't be about what he said to ET, since Alexis's 'gram was posted six days ago.

So, will Alexis and Alan be together and find some free time to "hang out and do whatever"? As Alan would say, "we'll see."
