Tumblr Users Are Still Obsessed With Grunge

Fashion fads tend to go as quickly as they come, often making them hard to keep up with. Fur-soled shoes? Where did those come from? And wait… they’re already out? Ugh.

But on the Internet, it seems things aren’t quite as fast-moving as designers would like you to think.

Tumblr has released its round up of 2015′s biggest trends, including the blogging platform and social media site’s most reblogged fashion trends of the year. In first place? Grungewhich, in Tumblr terminology, means a whole lotta ‘90s throwbacks rolled into one: Plaid shirts, rainbow hair, deconstructed denim, beanies, brown lipstick, Doc Martens, choker necklaces, and references to Nirvana.

But this isn’t the first time grunge has topped Tumblr users’ click lists: In 2013, it was also the most searched for term, and in 2014, the only fashion trend ranking higher was the equally retro “vintage.” Two years on, and grunge is still going strong.

So forget whatever it is you’ve heard about grunge being dead. Because on the Internet, grunge lives forever.

Rounding out the top five most reblogged fashion terms of 2015 were ‘hipster,’ ‘indie,’ our old pal ‘vintage,’ and ‘pale.’ Maybe all those warnings about tanning beds are finally catching on?

Some more winners in Tumblr’s “2015 Year in Review”:

• Most Reblogged Ship (That’s “relationship”): One Direction’s Harry Styles & Louis Tomlinson, aka “Larry Stylinson.”

• Model: Kendall Jenner.

• Beauty: This gold liner look from Armani Prive Couture.

• Fashion Brand: Nike.

• Pop Culture Topic: Zayn leaves One Direction.

• Man Bun: This guy’s.
