Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News.

Deadline reports that the network and host have "agreed to part ways." In a statement given to the publication, a Fox News spokesperson said, "Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named."

This decision comes a day after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on MNSBC's Inside with Jen Psaki and called for Carlson and Fox News to be held accountable for inciting the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

"We have very real issues with what is permissible on air," the congresswoman shared. "We saw that Jan. 6 and we saw that in the lead up to Jan. 6 and how we navigate questions — not just a freedom of speech but also accountability for incitement of violence — this is the line that we have to really explore through law as well."

Ocasio-Cortez, who is the U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district, continued, "I believe that when it comes to broadcast television, like Fox News, these are subject to federal law, federal regulation in terms of what's allowed on air and what isn't. When you look at what Tucker Carlson and some of these other folks on Fox do, it is very, very clearly incitement of violence — very clearly incitement of violence. And that is the line that we have to be willing to contend with."

In response to the Fox News update, Ocasio-Cortez simply wrote on Twitter, "Wow."

The decision also comes at the heels of Fox News reaching a $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems after Fox News falsely claimed Dominion's voting machines manipulated the outcome of the 2020 election.

Per Deadline, Carlson was set to be a notable witness if the issue was taken to trial.

The New York Times reports that Carlson was "given no heads-up that his time at Fox News had drawn to an end," according to two anonymous sources with knowledge of the situation. The longtime host was told about his firing in the morning of Monday, April 24.

Additionally, the publication reports that Tucker Carlson Tonight senior executive producer Justin Wells has also exited the network.
