We spend about a third of our lives in bed — so you should have comfortable, cozy bedding, right?

Seems easy enough — but for the past decade or more I've been playing Goldilocks to find bedding that's just right. Too cheap feeling, too hot, too scratchy, too delicate — I've been through the ringer, whether it's affordable department store brands or pricey cult-favourites.

After deciding my current set was too hot for summer, I wanted to upgrade to a cooler, more lightweight set a few months ago — which led me to Canadian female-owned bedding brand Tuck. I picked up their Crisp Bedding Bundle and test-drove them over the past few months. Read on for my full review and honest thoughts.

Right now, Tuck has 20 per cent off everything, and 30 per cent off bedding bundles with code HOLIDAY20 (discount applied at checkout)— ahead of Black Friday so if you want to give their bedding a try for yourself, now's a great time.

Reasons to avoid: If you're used to big brand bedding, the price of this bundle might be a bit jarring — but read on to find out why I think it's worth the price.

Tuck bedding review: What to know, pros and cons

Tuck's Crisp Bedding Bundle is a dreamy, cloudlike bedding set that basically looks like it was made for Instagram. This pretty pastel set comes with two pillow cases (for Queen and King sizes — Twin comes with one pillow case), a top sheet, fitted sheet and a duvet cover, a.k.a everything you need to completely overhaul your bedding.

Tuck's bedding is cloudlike, cooling and ultra-comfy.

The percale set comes bundled up in a cloth bag, which is a nice departure from plastic casing that a lot of bedding I've tried is packaged in.

Tuck's natural-fibre bedding is woven from a blend of organic cotton and Tencel Lyocell, which means it's super-breathable, lightweight and cooling.

I've been trialing these for about six months, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I've had some of the best sleep of my life. As an extremely hot sleeper, I always have my doubts when bedding claims to be "cooling" — but trust me when I say that these sheets even make summer slumber manageable.

I opted for the lilac colourway — a muted mauve that's surprisingly neutral — but the Crisp bedding is also available in sage, sand, chalk (a classic white) and pinstripe. While I prefer the matte look of the Crisp percale bedding, Tuck also has a line of classic Sateen options.

Beyond the cooling comfort, Tuck adds thoughtful details to their design that just make things easy.

The duvet cover, for example, features a zipper closure and corner ties, while the fitted sheet includes a directional tag so you don't spend all day flipping your duvet around — and super strong elastics and 15" pockets make sure your mattress is always covered, no matter how much you toss and turn.

If you hate wrestling with your fitted sheet or duvet cover, these are for you.

Tuck's clever details, like directional tags and duvet zippers, make the brand stand out.

How do they hold up and wash?

The short answer: Extremely well. I've had this bedding set for about six months now, and haven't noticed any wear or tear at all. I have a long-haired dog who loves to roll around in the dirt, so we've been washing them fairly frequently. I wash these with cold water and tumble dry since I live in a condo — but if you have a backyard, air drying these on the clothesline would be even better.

Speaking of my dog — while these sheets are cloud-like, they're far from delicate. My dog has previously ripped up several sheet sets with her claws (including expensive ones!), but after six months, there's not even a snag.

What other shoppers are saying

I'm not the only one who loves Tuck's lightweight, cooling percale sets.

"Favourite sheets in the whole wide world. Want them in every colour for every bed in our house," wrote one shopper who gave a 5-star rating. "So glad it is Canadian and female owned."

"Beautiful colour and very soft. Very happy with my purchase. Will buy again," added another.

My sheltie, Luna, immediately approved — and the sheets have held up well against her tiny claws and dirty fur.

The verdict: Are they worth it?

I'm obsessed with Tuck's bedding. It's chic, wildly comfortable and is a must-have if you run hot like I do.

While the cost is an upfront investment — the soft-but-sturdy material, cooling nature and dreamy colourways make them well worth the cost. The fact that Tuck uses sustainable materials and is a woman-owned brand also puts these a step ahead of the competition.

Tuck's customer service also deserves a round of applause. After receiving my bedding bundle, I decided to order two more pillow cases. I sent a couple of questions to their generic email and Tuck's customer service — who I learned was actually their founder, Julia — replied at lightning speed. She communicated with me by email and actually ended up dropping off my order herself since we live close to each other. While I don't think she makes house calls for every order, that personal touch really elevated my shopping experience. As someone who's sent way too many emails into the customer service void over the years, I'm confident that if I had any issues, I could get a hold of a real human being quickly.

If the price point of the bundle is too steep for you, Tuck does also sell all products separately. Scroll below to shop some of Tuck's bestselling products — all 20 per cent off for Black Friday.
