Tubes cleans up Fredrick Avenue

Apr. 21—Tubes bike shop and 52Eighty Creative worked together Sunday morning to clean up Fredrick Avenue as part of the Adopt-a-Block program.

On Fredrick Avenue from 17th to 19th Street, volunteers dedicated their weekend morning to make St. Joseph a bit more beautiful.

This was in work with the Imagine St. Joseph 2040 plan and its effort to get people out caring and cleaning up the city.

"I think it's really good for your community," Tubes co-owner Kelly Peterson said. "It's also, you know, a good way to just kind of get your business name out there, too ... It's kind of a win-win, I feel like. And if you have a business and you're able to use your platform to help your community or to help others, I think that's a great thing to do."

Family members of the businesses, as well as fans of the shop, came out to gear up in orange vests, gloves and trash grabbers.

"I just love this bike shop," volunteer Darin Pond said. "I love hanging out at Tubes and I love how they support ... the cycling community and just ... Fredrick Avenue in general. I think it's awesome doing the group rides and just meeting new people."

After the cleanup, volunteers were treated to an after party back at the shop with a free drink token and pizza for their hard work.
