Warning: minor TSITP season 2 and We'll Always Have Summer spoilers ahead.

Another summer in Cousins is coming.

The Summer I Turned Pretty just dropped its finale episode for season 2 on Prime Video, but the series has already got renewed for a third season. I'm personally a little upset because I just want Belly to figure out her love life once and for all and choose Jeremiah (sorry, Connie). Still, it's exciting that everyone gets a little more time with this incredibly gushy teenager love story.

Since The Summer I Turned Pretty series is based on novels by Jenny Han, viewers can get a sneak peek of what they can expect for the upcoming season (but more on that later).

During season 2, fans watched as Belly (once again) feels torn between her love for sweet Jeremiah and lust for moody Conrad. They also learned that Belly and Conrad's brief relationship didn't quite work out, the Cousins house is being sold, and Jeremiah is still trying to show Belly he loves her. Plus, there was some major tension bubbling over between Belly's best friend Taylor and her brother, Steven.

Season 2 still has a few more episodes to go, but there's clearly plenty of plot left to explore to in the upcoming season, too. So, if you're looking for all the fresh details and spoilers about The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, Women's Health has the full scoop.

Will there be a season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Yes! On August 3, TSITP officially announced a third season was in the works. Jenny Han will remain one of the showrunners, along with Sarah Kucserka, per DEADLINE.

"We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon," Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon, said in a statement, per DEADLINE. "This charming, deeply heartfelt series has shown the breadth of our customer base, appealing to a young, diverse set of viewers. Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to."

Apparently, Season 2 is one of Prime Video's most watched programs—so it makes sense that the series got picked up again. It was also reportedly green-lit before the current WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, per DEADLINE.

When will The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 be released?

With the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, there's no way to know when season 3 will even start production. PEOPLE reported that production for the last season won't start until "after labor negotiations with those unions have been resolved."

However, once a deal is reached, I'd imagine TSITP will hop right to it. The series usually shoots in the summer (go figure), Lola Tung recently told The Cut. So maybe production will take place in summer 2024?

Given the scheduling of the last two seasons, we can expect the new one to drop around 11 months after production wraps. However, this is only a guesstimate. Watch this space for more updates!

How many episodes will there be?

There will be 10 (!) whole episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, Han wrote on Instagram. "It’s been hard not being able to work on the show because of the ongoing strikes, but we can’t wait to get going on Season 3 as soon as we’re able," she wrote. (For the record, season 1 had seven episodes and season 2 will have eight.)

Who will be in the cast?

Hopefully, everyone in the first two seasons will be returning for the third, but no official announcement has been made yet. Currently, none of the cast has said they're leaving the series, so a full cast return is looking pretty optimistic.

Here's a run down of who's who in TSITP:

  • Lola Tung as Isabel "Belly" Conklin

  • Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher

  • Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher

  • Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin

  • Rain Spencer as Taylor Jewel

  • Elsie Fisher as Skye (Jeremiah and Conrad's cousin)

  • Jackie Chung as Laurel Dunne (Belly and Steven's mom)

  • Rachel Blanchard as Susannah Fisher (It's worth noting that Susannah has died in the show, so she only appears in flashbacks during season 2.)

Is there a trailer for TSITP season 3?

Alas, no trailer yet. Watch this space for updates!

What will TSITP Season 3 be about?

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a trilogy of novels, and the show stays pretty close to its source material. The first season of the TV series fell mostly in line with the original The Summer I Turned Pretty, and season 2 closely followed the series' sequel, It's Not Summer Without You.

If producers are following the pattern, I'd guess season 3 will align with the third and final novel in the series, We'll Always Have Summer.

This novel opens two years after It's Not Summer Without You ends, just as Belly gets engaged to her longtime boyfriend...Jeremiah Fisher. Plot twist! Of course, Conrad still has unresolved feelings for Belly. There's also some gray area cheating going on between the love triangle, and Jeremiah and Belly's wedding is called off.

Then, a time jump happens, and the book ends with Belly a little older, and planning to marry Conrad.

The cast previously told PEOPLE that TSITP season 3 will follow this novel pretty closely. However, new details (such as the character Skye) have been added before, so only time will tell what's truly in store for Belly. "I know Jenny is really just strong on staying as true to the books as possible and hitting the main points," said Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah.

Lola Tung, who plays Belly, said that there were different ways to approach season 3. "There's a blueprint of a book, which we've been lucky to have for two seasons now, just such a solid blueprint for us," she said.
