Beige and Green

Beige is a classic neutral for the living room, but in this stunning space designed by Amber Interiors, the rich green curtains add an unexpected hue. While bright green would be shocking, a deep green blends seamlessly into this more traditional design. Follow their lead, and choose a neutral sofa you won't soon get sick of, then let curtains, throw blankets, or other textiles introduce the accent color in the room.

Green and Peach

Green and peach is one of the most effortlessly cool living room color schemes, as demonstrated by this living room designed by Erin Fetherston and photographed by Marisa Vitale on Lulu and Georgia. The contrast between a deep green and a warm peach makes the colors really pop, and while this is a very intentional choice, it doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard.

If you'd like to try this color combo in paint, consider a deep olive green accent wall, then introduce peach accents, such as throw pillow covers or a vintage rug.

Navy Blue and White

Naby blue and white is a classic living room color scheme. While dark paint on the walls can make some rooms feel closed in, a darker blue paired with white furniture makes a space feel fresh and clean—and only slightly nautical, as shown in this living room by Emily Henderson Designs. Blue is really one of the best living room paint ideas, and not just because it tends to be a calm, relaxing color. (Blue and white is also a perfect combination for bathroom color schemes.)

“One of the most impressive decorative moments has to be the gallery wall Backed by a punchy red Hygge & West wallpaper, Nagels’ visually compelling arrangement is, in many ways, a love letter to one of the most important women in her life. . ‘Awhile after we bought the house, my grandmother passed away. She was an incredible artist and the inspiration behind me getting into the art and design world. When we went to look through her house we found hundreds and hundreds of paintings that she had left behind, and they all kind of had that same vibe and vision that I wanted for that wall,’ recalls Nagel. . Though the gallery wall had originally been inspired by a similar scene she spotted at a local restaurant (@azucarpalmsprings) that displayed a collection of portraits of Frida Kahlo, Nagel’s creation hits especially close to home. At the bottom right-hand corner, she decided to place her grandmother’s own self-portrait. . ‘She really captured herself. It’s almost like a signature at the bottom of her art wall,’ suggests Nagel. ‘Throughout her life, she always wanted more people to see her artwork but she often hid out in her house and kept a lot of it there. I knew I had an audience and I could, in her memory, really show the world her work.’” My favorite excerpt from our home feature on @dominomag ❤️ #dazeydeserthouse #dolorestrost #dominomag #midcenturyhome #interiorinspo #palmspringsmodern #williamkrisel

Want to feel happier? It’s almost impossible not to smile in an orange and white living room. White just makes orange pop, bringing energy to the space. This daring color scheme looks particularly chic in mid-century modern homes, such as the Dazey Desert House shown above.

Of all the living room wall colors, orange truly makes a statement, particularly when used for wallpaper. To keep the orange wall color from overwhelming the room, pair this bold hue with white or gray furniture and accessories.
