The Truth About the Rumored One Direction Reunion Revealed

Will the "Night Changes" crooners finally be uniting for another performance together?

Well, Directioners, it looks like we finally have an answer to the hovering questions about a possible reunion from the former boy band One Direction.

Fans have been getting their hopes up over the rumors that the musical group—formerly made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik—would be coming back together for a performance on the series finale of The Late Late Show with James Corden later this month.

It is with a heavy heart that we let the fandom know there is no truth to the speculation, which was officially shut down by The Late Late Show on Twitter this week.

In a new message published Wednesday, April 13, the Twitter page for the CBS late night put the kibosh on a new report that claimed the band would be reuniting for the first time in 8 years to give a special performance on the last ever episode of The Late Late Show.

"Nobody loves the boys more than us … but this story just isn’t true," the account tweeted, prompting the echo of Directioner hearts breaking everywhere.

One Direction, a group that was originally formed on X Factor in 2010, first began to break down after Malik announced in 2015 that he would be leaving the group to pursue a solo career, with the rest of the band dissolving shortly after.

Since then, the former members have all gone one to become solo artists, with Styles, 29, turning into one of the biggest stars in today's music scene. The rest of the members have also put out their own successful music, including Horan, 29, who is currently serving as a coach on The Voice

But Wednesday's tweet from The Late Late Show still attempted to leave readers with something positive to look toward, and while it may not be the "What Makes You Beautiful" crooners, there is still a special episode planned for the series finale of the talk show.

"What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2 hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th," the account added.

Well, it was a nice thought while it lasted!
