Truth or Consequences Fiesta celebrates 73rd year. Here's what to know if you go.

The 73rd Truth or Consequences Fiesta is a three-day event with a "Cars and Stripes" theme.

The festival began in 1950 shortly after a contest was held to rename what was at the time, Hot Springs, to the now Truth or Consequences.

“We’ve put together one of the best entertainment and activity lineups we’ve offered in years, and we’re excited towelcome visitors from all over the state, plus Arizona, Texas and Colorado, for all the fun we have planned,” said Nick Williams, president of the 2024 T or C Fiesta Committee.

The event will be held in downtown Truth or Consequences, from McAdoo Street to North Broadway Street. The main stage will at the Bank of the Southwest, located at 523 Broadway. All concerts held at the main stage are free for event goers.

Friday, May 3

  • 6:30 p.m. doors open for El Cortez theatre at 415 Main Avenue

  • 7 p.m. a Fiesta Rodeo will be held at the Sherriff's Posse arena at 601 Rodea Arena Road

  • 7:30 p.m. a beard, mustache, hat and bonnet competition will be held at El Cortez theatre

  • 9 p.m. a dance will be held at the Sherriff's Posse arena

Saturday, May 4

  • 8 a.m. Color run begins at Tractor Supply at 499 S Broadway Street

  • 10 a.m. 73rd annual Fiesta Parade begins at the main stage at the Bank of the Southwest

  • 11:30 a.m. Folklorico performance at the main stage at the Bank of the Southwest

  • At noon there will be a cornhole tournament and until 6 p.m. there will be a "kids' corner" with bouncy houses and mechanical bulls. At noon there will also be a basketball and volleyball tournament at Ralph Edwards Park in downtown.

  • At 7 p.m. there will be a Fiesta Rodeo at the Sheriff's Posse arena

Sunday, May 5

  • 9 a.m. a Waffle Bar and food truck breakfast will take place at the main stage at the Bank of the Southwest

  • 9 a.m. there will be a Historical Walking tour that will begin at Triangle Park found at the intersection of Main and Broadway

  • 10 a.m. a skateboard competition and a children's fishing derby will take place at Ralph Edwards Park

  • 2 p.m. a duck race will take place at Ralph Edwards Park

“Along with our relaxing hot springs, there’s the Rio Grande, Elephant Butte Lake State Park and hiking galore. We are so fortunate to live in this incredibly beautiful part of New Mexico, and we look forward to sharing it with everyone. As Ralph Edwards would say when he hosted Fiesta here decades ago, ‘Hello there, we’ve been waiting for you!’," Williams said.
