Trump SoHo Hotel Officially Changes Its Name

The Trump SoHo Hotel has become The Dominick Hotel in a rebranding effort

The Trump SoHo Hotel has become The Dominick Hotel in a rebranding effort that took effect Thursday at midnight.

Workers took down the gold Trump SoHo sign from the building after Thanksgiving, the Washington Post reported. Any final indications of Donald Trump and his family's involvement disappeared this week. The Trump Organization and the CIM group, which owns the hotel, announced in November that they would sever ties by the end of the year.

The CIM group will continue to own the hotel, which will become a part of the Preferred Hotel and Resorts network, Nicole Murano, director of marketing and communications for the hotel, told the Post.

The rebranding of Trump SoHo into The Dominick appears to stem from slow business over the last year, the details of which remain unclear because Trump has not released his tax returns.

Trump SoHo also saw its fair share of controversies – including NBA LeBron James publicly refusing to stay there last year. The hotel also has ties to Felix Sater, a Russian ex-con who was a partner in developing Trump SoHo.
