Trump Reportedly Spent $10,000 Just on Makeup for His Aides at His Inauguration

Lucky them?

Many of us dream of having a bottomless budget for indulging in all things beauty, and it seems that when it came to his inauguration, Donald Trump was no exception in sparing little expense for his aides to look good (or at the very least, very made up) for the occasion. According to a new report by the New York Times, the president's inaugural committee allegedly allocated a mind-boggling $10k towards providing makeup and room service (among other expenses) for 20 aides ahead of an evening event. (That's $500 per person — feel free to take a moment to ruminate on how you personally would spend five Benjamins in a Sephora if you're so inclined.)

According to the Times, private donors contributed $107 million towards Trump's inauguration, which was lavishly spent on the aforementioned makeup allowance, in addition to $30,000 in per diem payments for select contracted staff members, separate from their completely paid-for hotel rooms, room service, plane tickets, and taxi expenses to cruise around the Nation's Capital. The details of the expenditures (which have only recently been made public) were reportedly learned from various interviews and from documents obtained by the Times, and comes at a time where details surrounding the inauguration's funding are currently under criminal investigation from federal prosecutors, as per The Wall Street Journal. The most onerous of the allegations surrounding the raised funds puts into question whether foreign donations were potentially "passed" through American citizens — an illegal practice in the United States.

It should come as little surprise that Trump didn't seem to hold back on vanity purposes; this is, after all, the same president who shelled out nearly a million dollars to decorate Washington's Union Station, and who, according to the Times' calculations, also hemorrhaged $6.4 million in hotel room blocks arranged for guests who ended up securing alternative accommodations for the event. A love of pretty things paired with a lack of financial restraint? There's a rather slippery slope.
