During a listening session with Parkland shooting survivors and their families yesterday, President Donald Trump was pictured carrying notes reminding him to listen to his guests. Though all five of the points listed on his paper can be seen in the now-viral photos, the last item ("I hear you.") has drawn the most criticism.

According to CNN, the photos were first taken by Getty photographer Chip Somodevilla. The paper reads: "1. What would you most want me to know about your experience? "2. What can we do to help you feel safe?" "4. resources? ideas?" and "5. I hear you." The third point is covered by Trump's hands.

The last point caused outrage online, prompting many to speculate the President needed a reminder to show sympathy and to listen to people who'd just suffered horrific tragedy.

During the same meeting, Trump wondered aloud about how effective arming teachers would be in preventing attacks ("If you had a teacher who is adept at firearms, they could very well end the attack very quickly") and expressed wanting to strengthen background checks.

The Guardian notes Trump didn't use the exact phrasing seen on the paper at any point, but that he concluded with “Thank you for pouring out your hearts because the world is watching and we’re going to come up with a solution.”

Last night, some of the same men and women who met with Trump appeared on an emotional and astounding town hall on CNN to demand reform from Florida legislators and NRA members.
