Trolls Are Accusing Meghan Markle of Copying Another Children’s Book and the Author Just Shut Them Down

Meghan Markle is adding a new entry to her résumé right after actor, humanitarian, and entrepreneur: She’s a newly published children’s book author! The Duchess of Sussex just announced her debut illustrated kids’ book called The Bench, a lovely story about a mother watching the bond between her son and his father. (Yes, it’s based on Prince Harry and Archie.)
But unfortunately, online trolls wasted zero time accusing Meghan of copying the concept of her book from The Boy on the Bench, by Corrinne Averiss. Which, nope. Nooooope. All it takes is a brief glance to realize these two books are nothing alike and the only thing they have in common is the existence of a literal bench.
The trolling and rude comments have gotten so out of hand, however, that Averiss hopped onto Twitter to make it clear that she doesn’t think the Duchess of Sussex copied her book’s concept in any way, shape, or form, writing, “Reading the description and published excerpt of the duchess’s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme as The Boy on the Bench. I don’t see any similarities.”

Hopefully, people on Twitter stop this nonsense now that Averiss shut down these claims, because TBH, the more cute children’s books, the better. Anyway, you can preorder Meghan’s book right here, which she says “started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day a month after Archie was born…that poem became this story.” The book’s official description is already out (thx, Amazon) and reads:
