Who Is “Trinkets” Star Kiana Madeira And Why Does She Look So Familiar?

Get ready for your newest streaming obsession. Trinkets, a series based on a novel of the same book by Kirsten Smith, premiered on Netflix on June 14 and if you make it to the last episode of season 1, it's seriously sure to keep you hooked. Trinkets follows a group of girls who are addicted to shoplifting. In order to break their bad habits, the girls all attend Shoplifters Anonymous. But instead of accepting the help they're receiving from their support group, the girls decide that they're going to keep stealing together. The trio of shoplifters is played by actresses Brianna Hildebrande, Quintessa Swindell and Kiana Madeira. If you're a Disney fan, you might recognize Kiana from her part in the movie The Swap. Kiana plays Moe Truax on Trinkets. Here's what you should know about her.

1. Kiana's been acting for more than 10 years.

The Toronto native's acting catalogue goes all the way back to 2007 when she landed a role on a Canadian TV series called Little Mosque on the Prairie. She's also landed several Disney roles including a part in the movie Bad Hair Day, in addition to her role in The Swap. Now she's playing the role of a seemingly carefree teenage girl named Moe in her new series, Trinkets.

2. You'll probably catch her on the big screen soon in the Fear Street movies.

The films are adaptations of R.L. Stine's Fear Street books. According to Collider, the 26-year-old will be playing a gay teenager who's trying to navigate a rocky relationship amidst the horrors happening in her town of Shadyside.

3. She was immediately drawn to the part of Moe in Trinkets.

Kiana told website InqPop the mystery of the series is what really attracted her. "I really wanted to be part of ‘Trinkets’ and play Moe because there’s something very mysterious about her...I haven’t played a character like her before. When we auditioned for the project, we only got to see the first episode so there’s always a mystery to the show and I didn’t know where the story [was] going. I really want to know more so that’s the huge reason why I wanted to be a part of it.” Kiana also said that Trinkets takes on women empowerment in a way that feels different from other coming-of age stories.

4. Kiana's longtime boyfriend is actor Lovell Adams-Gray.

The couple shares really cute pictures with each other on their personal Instagrams. Lovell has also worked on a Netflix series. You can catch him on the show Slasher playing the part of Peter. In his most recent role, he plays the part of Dwayne Allen on the Canadian series Coroner.

5. She credits John Travolta as the reason she wanted to become an actress.

His role as Danny Zuko in the film Grease spurred her interest in acting. Now, she has dreams of seeing her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame one day.
