Spindrift just announced two new flavors—Island Punch and Grapeade—yesterday, and they may be their best flavors to date.

For context, I adore Spindrift.  For years, I would make seltzer at home and add a splash of juice to it to make it “fancy.” So when I saw Spindrift for the first time at the grocery store, I snapped up a case. Even though I still make seltzer at home, I like having the cans on hand to bring on road trips, to the beach and to our daughter’s soccer games. And Spindrift’s flavors are just as delicious as my fancy concoctions.

And the EatingWell team loves Spindrift, too. If you take a look at the snack and drink shelf in our Vermont office, you’re sure to find at least four flavors. And now that we’ve tried Island Punch and Grapeade, we’ll be adding them to our weekly grocery order. Here’s why.

Island Punch

With its combination of passion fruit, orange and guava juices, you’ll definitely feel the island breezes sipping on this one. “This is everything I love about tropical fruit punch without the cloying sweetness,” raved EatingWell’s senior editorial director, Penelope Wall. “Its flavor is predominantly guava, but the passion fruit adds a nice tart finish.” I agree, it was super tasty, with strong fruit punch vibes. Did it feel like I was on a Caribbean beach drinking this one? Maybe. If I added a shot of spiced rum, it surely would.

Grapeade

I have a confession to make. I love grape soda. I rarely drink it, but when I’m in the mood and spot a can, I’ll grab it. So let’s just say I was a little suspect about this one. Grape soda is so sweet—a 20-ounce bottle of Grape Crush has 71 grams of added sugar! Could this Spindrift really scratch the same itch? All I can say is that it was love at first sip. I felt like it totally nailed the grape soda flavor, in my mind, but without the excessive sweetness that comes with it. All of the nostalgic flavor from Concord grape juice, none of the added sugar.

Bottom Line

The two new Spindrift flavors—Island Punch and Grapeade—are freaking delicious. If you like guava or passion fruit, you should pick up the former. And if you’re a fan of grape soda, you could definitely give the latter a try. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
