I don't have oily skin, but I do sweat easily — and I sweat a lot. (It doesn't help that I'm a Florida native.) It's for that reason I shied away from foundation for most of my adolescence. Only in recent years have I changed my tune, but even now, I'm still wary of anything with more than light coverage, hence my preference for skin tints — and initial hesitance when it came to trying Fenty Beauty's Soft'lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation.
Listen, I love Rihanna as much as everyone else, but I'm also not willing to walk around under the beating sun with runny foundation dripping down my face — even for her. But this particular product promises to resist sweat and humidity; plus, unlike the brand's original matte foundation, it's meant to deliver a "golden hour glow," so I set aside my worries and tried it out.
I wore it throughout my weekend-long trip to Florida, while the weather ranged from down-pouring rain to swampy, humid heat. Regardless of what the skies had in store or how sweaty I got, my foundation stayed perfectly intact. I also noticed its genuinely weightless feel: Though it's technically medium coverage, it feels like a second skin — to the point I sometimes forget when I'm wearing it.
It only takes two to three pumps to cover my face via a makeup brush. I love that the glycerin-enhanced formula offers a dose of hydration, and I've found I can skip primer without compromising smoothness. And, true to its promise, the foundation does deliver a radiant golden glow, even with concealer, blush and bronzer layered atop.
Rihanna, I'm sorry I ever doubted you.
