Spoiler alert: It helped reduce my dark circles, puffiness, texture, and fine lines

I’m only 31 years old, but I’ve struggled with under-eye bags and dark circles for years. While I own dozens of eye creams and serums to help with these symptoms (and they do help), I have never been fully impressed with the results.

I love the effects an under-eye mask can provide, but I typically avoid buying disposable patches due to the cost (usually $4-$10 a pop). So when I came across Dieux’s Forever Eye Mask, I was immediately intrigued. An under-eye mask that’s reusable and long-lasting? $25 seems like a small price to pay.

In the end, it was worth it: I noticed both immediate and long-term benefits after using these eye patches three to four times a week for six weeks. I finally realized my genetics weren’t to blame, I just hadn’t found the right product yet.

The Forever Eye Mask is meant to be just that: a reusable mask you can use over and over again. Not only does it help with waste and overconsumption, but it’s simply more cost-effective than buying disposable under-eye patches that are only good for one use. I’ve been using the forever eye mask regularly for six weeks, but the brand says it’ll last about a year before the logo begins to fade (however, this doesn’t lessen their efficacy; they can be used much longer if you don’t care about the branding disappearing over time).

It works just like the disposable eye masks you know and love: By sealing in the under-eye serum, oil, cream, or gel of your choice, it keeps the formula close to the skin allowing for maximum absorption. I have been testing the brand’s eye serum which has worked wonders for my dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. The mask also helps catch makeup fallout if you wear them when applying eye makeup.

How to Use the Dieux Forever Eye Mask

The instructions for using (and reusing) the Dieux eye mask are quite simple:

  • Apply a serum, gel, or eye cream of your choice (we have tested dozens of eye serums and creams, including ones best for puffiness and dark circles, but we also recommend Dieux’s Auracle Eye Serum).

  • Wait 10 to 20 seconds for the product to get tacky so the eye mask can stick to the formula without sliding.

  • Apply the silicone eye masks on top of the formula. See the brand’s tutorial for placement tips.

  • Wear the masks for 10 to 20 minutes to let the product fully sink into the skin.

  • After peeling off the masks, wash them with your fingers using a small amount of hand soap and water.

  • Pat dry with a towel and place onto the plastic insert inside the storage tin.

For best results, the brand recommends using daily, but the results depend on what serum you choose to wear with them. According to Dieux, formulas with glycerin can provide an immediate effect with more dramatic results noticeable in four to eight weeks. Niacinamide benefits can also be seen in four to eight weeks while peptides’ can take eight to 12 weeks. (The Auracle Eye Serum is made with all three of those ingredients.)

Pro Tip!

Perform a patch test of the mask and your skincare product of choice before using on the eyes.

How We Tested the Dieux Forever Eye Mask

To test the Dieux Forever Eye Mask, I used it several times a week for four weeks, usually paired with the Auracle Eye Serum. I used the mask per the brand’s instructions and followed the cleaning tips after every use. The brand recommends using them every day for best results, but I wore them three to four times per week and was still impressed with the outcome.

During testing, I was particularly interested in the effectiveness of the eye serum with the mask, so I compared any notable differences when using the eye serum without the mask. I also took into account the clarity of the instructions, the eye mask’s ease of use, and how it held up after weeks of use.

The Results

I’ve always been self-conscious of the bags under my eyes. In fact, I’ve had for so long I chalked it up to pure genetics. Well, I have been in denial — apparently all I needed was an effective eye serum and to use this mask regularly to give my undereyes a dose of TLC.

The results are immediate: I saw a noticeable difference after using the Auracle Eye Serum with the Forever Eye Mask just once. That is, the typical dullness, dehydration, and puffiness that was typical of my undereyes was no longer. The area became moisturized, plump, and glowy as soon as I peeled off the mask. But those are just the immediate benefits.

After using this duo regularly for six weeks, my undereyes look smoother when they used to be very textured and they look more “alive” and brighter than ever. (Okay, maybe not ever, but for the first time in a long time for this 31-year-old.)

Is the Dieux Forever Eye Mask Worth It?

Is the Dieux Forever Eye Mask worth it? If you rely on under-eye patches to reduce puffiness, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and dark circles, then it’s absolutely worth it. Costing $25, it’s designed to last at least a year if you use it daily. For reference, the cheapest disposable eye masks at Sephora cost $4 a pair, so this eye mask pays for itself after just seven uses.

But what I love most about this eye mask is the ability to pair it with virtually any under-eye skincare product you already own. As a fashion and beauty editor that’s hoarded a collection of eye serums, creams, and gels over the years, the convenience and adaptability of the product itself is worth every penny. Plus, I’ve been able to reap the benefits of using under-eye masks every day. Before, I would periodically pick some up while waiting in line at Sephora but now it’s part of my everyday routine — and my undereyes are healthier and happier for it.
