Popular costumes change and movies get scarier every year, but one thing that doesn't change is going out with your friends and family to get candy on Halloween.

Although there are many regular activities like the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular or the Ultimate Halloween Parade and Festival around Louisville, cities in the area can have different times designated for trick-or-treating around their neighborhoods.

Before you take your little monsters out to scare up candy around the neighborhood, check the times for trick-or-treating around Louisville and Southern Indiana.

What time is trick or treating in Jefferson County?

  • Shawnee Trunk or Treat: Oct. 28 from 4-6 p.m.

  • Hillcrest Avenue: Oct. 31 from 5-9 p.m.

  • LMPD Eighth Division Trunk-or-Treat: Oct. 28 from 1-3 p.m. at 2927 Goose Creek Road

  • LMPD Fifth Division Trunk-or-Treat: Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at 2301 Douglas Blvd.

What time is trick or treating in other parts of Kentucky?

  • Elizabethtown: Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m.

What time is trick or treating in Southern Indiana?

  • Charlestown: The city has an Alice in Wonderland-themed "Trail and Treat” event from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Greenway Park, 400 Market St. Brian Smith, a spokesperson for the city, said officials are "advising residents to trick or treat on Halloween Day between the hours of 6-9 p.m."

  • Crothersville: Oct. 31 from 6-9 p.m.

  • Sellersburg: Oct. 31 from 6-9 p.m.
