Tri-Fest, Rend Collective concert and college baseball highlight things to do this weekend

Thursday

Festival of Nations

5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Old National Events Plaza, 715 Locust St. Free.

This family-friendly event features performances by Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. multilingual learners and their families, food from diverse restaurants, and tables featuring students' countries of origin and local community partners.

Book N’ Cook 2024 Kickoff

5:30 to 6:30 p.m., EVPL East, 840 E. Chandler Ave. Free.

EVPL invites kids in grades three to five to this event which features a cooking demonstration, information about the upcoming Book N' Cook program, and giveaways of a new kitchen tool.

The Wolves

Through Saturday at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, USI Performance Center, 8600 University Blvd. Tickets range from $2 to $15.

This show follows a girl's indoor soccer team as they navigate life's big questions and wage tiny battles with a pack of adolescent warriors.

Waiting For Lefty

Through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., Shanklin Theatre at the University of Evansville. Tickets range from $18 to $20.

Inspired by the 1934 New York taxicab strike, this play illustrates the power of individual protest and the right to reform by following the characters as they fight for living wages and safe, equitable workplaces.

Friday

Tri-Fest

Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., Downtown Henderson between Washington and Third Street. Tickets for rides are one for $1.50, eight for $10, and 20 for $20.

The Henderson Breakfast Lions Club is hosting its annual spring Tri-Fest street festival that features food booths, carnival rides, live entertainment, fireworks, a pedal tractor pull, the annual 5K run or walk, pickleball and cornhole tournament and more. All money raised goes to local non-profits.

University of Southern Indiana baseball

April 19-21; Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for non-USI students.

Cheer on the USI baseball team as the Eagles take on Tennessee-Martin.

Community Artist Critique

5 p.m., Bluestocking Social, 606 B S. Weinbach Ave. Free.

The bookstore invites artists to bring their works in progress to discuss their process and get advice from fellow artists.

Saturday

United Women of Faith Craft Fair

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Newburgh United Methodist Church, 4178 Indiana 261 in Newburgh. Free.

This vendor fair will feature a variety of items from crocheted animals to multipurpose bags, to microwave bowl cozies and tumblers. Fresh-baked items and food trucks will be on site.

S.T.E.A.M. Saturday

10 a.m. CMoe-Koch Family Children's Museum of Evansville, 22 SE Fifth St. Activities included with general admission.

Happening every third Saturday, visitors can explore an interactive, hands-on activity designed to spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Earth Day at Wesselman Woods

10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wesselman Woods, 551 N. Boeke Road. Free.

This Earth Day event is centered around how individuals can make a difference in their lives and the community. More than 25 local organizations will be joining the celebration with activities and information and food trucks will be on site. Wesselman Woods trails and Nature Playscape will be open for free for anyone.

Craft Supply Swap

11 a.m. to Noon, EVPL Central, 200 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Free.

Have any extra craft supplies? Swap them at EVPL. From 11 to 11:15 a.m., tables will be labeled by craft supply type: Paper Crafts, Sewing, Fiber Arts, Jewelry Making, and more, and "Shop" the supplies from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Items must be new or gently used, small items or sets of items must be bagged, and small hand tools are welcomed.

Rend Collective: Campfire Tour

Christian folk rock band Rend Collective is stopping in Evansville.

Under the Beams concert

7:30 p.m., New Harmony’s Murphy Auditorium, 419 Tavern St. Tickets range from $15 to $35.

Mokoomba is a six-musician group from Zimbabwe that combines several languages, traditional and modern instruments, rhythms, and acapella voices in a variety of international pop and pan-African styles – including soukous, funk and reggae – while bringing together different cultures from Southern, East and Central Africa.

Sunday

Spring Urban Hikes in Parks

2 p.m., Garvin Park, 1600 N. Main St. Free.

The Evansville Trails Coalition is partnering with the Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation to host urban hikes within the city's local parks.

Jesus Christ Superstar

7:30 p.m., Old National Events Plaza, 715 Locust St. Tickets range from $30 to $70.

This show celebrates its 50th anniversary of the opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice which follows the series of events during the final weeks of the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas.
