The trending destinations where Brits are booking Airbnbs this winter
Whether you like a cosy staycation or escaping to an icy destination, now is an excellent time to plan a winter break - and Airbnb is providing inspiration on where to go this season by sharing its top trending travel destinations for winter 2023.
Australia's sun-kissed city of Sydney has topped the list, with Brits hoping to make the journey down under for their first Christmas since coronavirus restrictions were fully lifted.
Malaga in Spain came second, with UK travellers hedging their bets on the Spanish weather during the coming winter months.
Winter sun aside, the magical capital of Lapland, Rovaniemi, which is known as the hometown of Father Christmas, came third on the list. It is one of three Scandinavian destinations to make up the top ten list for travellers searching a little closer to home.
In stark contrast, far-flung and sun-filled destinations like Bangkok and Cape Town are also attracting interest this winter.
Airbnb's list is based on the places Britons have been booking during the third quarter of the year for a stay this winter.
With a diverse range of destinations, from Europe to Asia, the list shows that Britons are not shy about travelling to far-flung places, while proving that cold winter destinations in Northern Europe have just as much appeal.
The rental website also gave an insight into the types of trips that are in demand this winter, with beach, amazing pools, national park, iconic city and surfing proving popular.
