Clarifying a conversation. Travis Kelce spoke out about his talk with Aaron Rodgers amid his Taylor Swift romance.

On October 2, 2023, the two football players were seen talking to each other on the field at MetLife Stadium before the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs game. The Jets quarterback was on crutches as he recovers from his Achilles Tear injury talking to both Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. Later on in the game, Rodgers was seen alone in a stadium box, while Kelce’s suspected girlfriend Taylor Swift was having a party in another box with her friends Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and even Kelce’s mother, Donna.

In his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, he revealed what he said to the Jets’ quarterback. “I just wanted to go up to him to tell him how excited everybody was and how bummed out we were that he got banged up and needed to get surgery,” Kelce said.

He was enamored by Rodger’s HBO documentary Hard Knocks which featured him in his old team The Green Bay Packers. “Watching Hard Knocks, it was electric to see what Aaron Rodgers was going to do with that team,” Kelce continued. “And not to say that they’re not gonna be great because he’s not there, but I think that having Aaron there was gonna be that much more entertaining for the fans of the game like I am.”

Kelce concluded, “You just hate to see the great ones go down with injury, that’s for sure. I just went up to him and told him we were all hurting for him and hopefully he gets healthy quick.”

How did Aaron Rodgers Shade Travis Kelce?

On The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers revealed a new name for Kelce. “[It was a] moral victory out there,” Rodgers told Tuesday, referring to the Jets’ loss, “that we hung with the champs and that our defense played well, and Pat [Mahomes] didn’t have a crazy game, and Mr. Pfizer [Kelce], we kind of shut him down. He didn’t have his crazy impact game.”

Kelce starred in a new ad promoting the availability of both flu and COVID booster shots this fall. The commercial, which is in partnership with Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company behind one of the major COVID-19 vaccines also features Kelce’s mother, Donna.

Host Pat McAfee asked what Rodgers and “Mr. Pfizer” talked about on the field. Rodgers said, “some things need to be left on the field.”

“He’s doing commercials for Pfizer, so I’m sure he’s owning it,” Rodgers also said when asked about how it felt to get the name out. He also explained his reasoning why he said the specific brand though Kelce is featured in other kinds of commercials. “I was watching the game, I couldn’t hear the commercials,” Rodgers said. “But I’ve seen him on a few of them. Him and Pat (Mahomes) definitely have a lot of commercials.”

Rodgers previously criticized the COVID-19 vaccines as they started to first roll out and he was under fire after testing positive for COVID-19 on November 3, 2021. At the time, it was revealed that the quarterback—who previously claimed he was “immunized” when asked about his vaccination status during a press conference in August 2021—was actually unvaccinated.

Meanwhile, Rodgers previously responded to the controversy surrounding his unvaccinated status during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on November 5, 2021. “I realize I’m in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now, so before my final nail gets put in my cancel culture casket, I think I’d like to set the record straight on so many of the blatant lies that are out there about myself right now,” the Packers quarterback said at the time. “First of all, I didn’t lie in the initial press conference. During that time, it was a very—witch hunt that was going on across the league, where everybody in the media was so concerned about who was vaccinated, and who wasn’t, and what that meant, and who was being selfish, and who would talk about it, and what it meant if they said it was a personal decision.”

Rodgers went on to reveal at the time that he decided against getting vaccinated because he’s “allergic” to an ingredient in the Pzifer and Moderna vaccines, though he failed to specify the ingredient in question. The quarterback also decided against the Johnson and Johnson jab after the shot’s distribution was briefly paused and because he “heard of multiple people who had had adverse events” happen to them after receiving the shot. One of the adverse events that he listed included infertility. However, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says that there is currently no evidence that any vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines, cause fertility problems.

Instead, Rodgers reportedly pursued an “alternate treatment” prior to the start of training camp. According to ESPN, the quarterback petitioned the NFL to give him the same considerations as vaccinated players, however, this request was denied by the league.

On September 11, 2023, Rodgers was only on the field for four snaps before he went down. He’ll now miss the rest of the season as an MRI confirmed the all-star quarterback had torn his Achilles on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

He added: “Aaron Rodgers’ torn Achilles might be the most devastating injury to a team and fan base in NFL history. There never has been a player who received more off-season hype, who raised another team’s expectations more, who had his season end 4 plays in without ever completing a pass.”

On Monday night, coach Robert Saleh said the team believed Rodgers ruptured his left Achilles tendon when he was sacked by Buffalo’s Leonard Floyd and fell awkwardly during the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win over the Bills. Rodgers could be seen standing up for a few moments but needed help getting to the sideline. He was taken into the blue medical tent to be examined and then limped inside to the locker room.

“Concerned with his Achilles. MRI is probably going to confirm what we think is going to happen, so prayers tonight. But it’s not good,” Saleh said, per AP. Saleh went on to explain that Rodgers would have an MRI on Tuesday, September 12 after X-rays during the game came back negative. “Personally, I don’t hurt for me, I don’t hurt for our locker room,” Saleh said. “I hurt for Aaron and how much he has invested in all of this. I’m going to say a prayer. I’m still going to hold out hope. But my heart’s with Aaron right now, nobody else.”
