Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce may not be a particularly shy guy, but when it comes to his budding relationship with Taylor Swift, the NFL star admitted to being uncharacteristically guarded in order to protect the newfound romance.

As the news of the two "quietly hanging out" first began to take over media headlines, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was sure to be mostly tight-lipped when it came to the details of the new situation—after all, he wanted to be careful not to ruin anything before it even really had the chance to get up off the ground.

"I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them," Kelce told The Wall Street Journal as he opened up about what life looks like amid the frenzy of it all, in a wide-ranging interview published on Monday, Nov. 20.

So, the best way to go about managing all the attention? To keep it as safe as possible when choosing his words regarding he and the pop star's dating life. “That was the biggest thing to me: make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away," he said.

Similarly, his mom Donna Kelce, lovingly nicknamed Mama Kelce, adopted the same mindset when it came to speaking on her son's love life. So much so, that her impression of Swift came off as her being somewhat "underwhelmed" in the very beginning stages—namely during an appearance on the Today show.

Now, though, everyone seems to be taking a much more laidback stance on the whole thing, with the entire family speaking on the couple a bit more cavalierly. “I can tell you this,” Donna noted, beaming, “He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time… God bless him, he shot for the stars!”

Elsewhere in the interview with the publication, Kelce spoke about another thing he and Taylor have in common: their perspectives on family and work. “Everybody knows I’m a family guy,” he said. “Her team is her family. Her family does a lot of stuff in terms of the tour, the marketing, being around, so I think she has a lot of those values as well, which is right up my alley.”

Fans are wondering if these two might be end game, as reports have stated they hope to introduce each other's families amid plans to spend the holidays all together, but only time will tell!
