American skier Travis Ganong announced his retirement from racing at the tail end of last season. He finished his long career with 2 wins and 6 podiums, including a blistering 3rd place performance on the Streif in this year's Hahnenkahm Dowhill.

Ganong has now entered the next phase of his life, and he's giving freeskiing/content creation a go.

Click the video below to watch Ganong's recent e-bike/skiing journey at Palisades Tahoe on Powder Magazine's Instagram page:

Gangong caption provides context to just how adventurous his summer e-bike/ski mission was.

Ganong biked close to, if not more, than 2,000 vertical feet from the base of Palisades Tahoe to the top of the Shirely Lake Express chair. He then hiked an additional couple of hundred of feet into the Funnel, a classic Double Black Diamond run.

He then hiked back up another few hundred vertical feet to the reach the top of the Emigrant Lift. He then skied a spicy spine line and skied/rode his bike to the Gold Coast pond. From there, he boot packed up National Chute on The Palisades.

You would think that would be enough, but no, he hung a left, and boot packed up to ski Main Chute on the Palisades.

When all was said an done, Ganong easily logged more than 4,000 feet of vertical climbing whether by e-biking, hiking, or boot packing. He also managed to ski four classic lines at the end of July. Not too shabby.

Ganong mentions in his video that he was inspired by skier/filmmaker Scott Gaffney to get after it. You can click here to read our story about how Gaffney accidentally broke one of skiing's 'Golden Rules'.

Kudos to Ganong for taking us along for the ride during his summer skiing mission. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to more videos like it in the future!
