  • Kourtney Kardashian recently celebrated her 44th birthday at Kennedy Cottage on San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara.

  • Celebrations included a mariachi band and a family bowling party.

  • Husband Travis Barker even got her a Yoshimoto Nara painting.

"The Kardashians are our modern day Kennedys" may sound like a line from a hack stand-up routine from the 2010s, but that hasn't stopped the Kardashian clan from creating a fair amount of parallels between their First Family of Reality Television and the former First Family, period.

The most recent intersection comes courtesy of a trip to the California coast from Kourtney Kardashian and her husband, blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The excursion to celebrate Kourtney's 44th birthday, according to E! News, included a stay at the Kennedy Cottage on San Ysidro Ranch, where in 1953, John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had their honeymoon.

The festivities reportedly included rose petal decor, a mariachi band, and a private bowling party with friends and family. Of course, a lavish birthday celebration would naturally be accompanied by lavish gifts, and in that department, hubby Barker definitely delivered.

As revealed in an Instagram story, Barker gave his wife a remarkable work of art from Yoshimoto Nara. "Titled 'Love! Somethin',' the signed sketch was sold at an April 5 auction for approximately $161,819 U.S., according to Sotheby's," E! News note, "It was exhibited at the Santa Monica Museum of Art in 2000."

The artist, Yoshimoto Nara, has been described by the Pace Gallery as:

"...a pioneering figure in contemporary art whose signature style—which expresses children in a range of emotional complexities from resistance and rebellion to quietude and contemplation—celebrates the introspective freedom of the imagination and the individual."

In his Instagram post tribute to his wife, Barker said of Kourtney, "You deserve everything your heart desires." And apparently, that includes $160,000 works of art.
