Traveler Abandons French Bulldog at Airport After Being Told the Dog Needed a Crate to Fly

As just about every traveler has experienced, airports and flying can be downright stressful. Even when everything goes exactly as planned and there's zero rush, something about air travel can get overwhelming--especially when you travel with kids or pets!

Unfortunately, though, now everyone is willing to do everything that's required to fly with a pet safely. A traveler recently abandoned her French Bulldog at the Pittsburgh International Airport after being told the dog needed a crate to fly. The Allegheny County Police Department shared the dog's disheartening story on August 4.

What a cute little pup! It's hard to imagine any pet owner walking away from their dog and boarding a flight without them over something as minor as using a crate (which, by the way, is normal for small dogs on planes). Naturally, this angered many readers--including us!

According to the Pennsylvanian police department, the woman had originally claimed that the dog was an emotional support animal. When she was informed that the dog would need to be in a crate in order to fly, though, she chose to leave her poor pup unattended instead.

Police officers arrived to call about an unattended dog around 5:30 a.m. on August 4. They found the dog alone in a pet stroller near short-term parking, where he had been left. The dog was microchipped, but attempts to contact his owner were unsuccessful. That's when the whole story about the pup's abandonment came to light.

After rescuing the dog, officers "contacted the state dog warden to safely turn over the dog." Charges are expected to be filed against the woman as well. Fortunately, the adorable Frenchie will get a chance to find a truly loving and loyal forever home who will always take him with them when they travel.
