They’re so lightweight, I forget I’m wearing shoes.

I went home to Minnesota for a little over a week; as I always do when I go home, I bring some things I no longer wear (but still want to keep!) back to my mom’s house — sorry, mom. My small NYC apartment simply can’t hold the amount of things I have. I’m determined to majorly downsize everything in my home this spring and summer, which means bring things to the Midwest. When I want said thing(s) again, I know they can be safely found there.

But I learned I can sometimes be wrong about the things I think I don’t want in a particular moment. In fact, I brought one pair of sneakers from NYC to Minnesota only to bring them back to NYC because my mom said, “Eva, you’re silly for not wearing these!” — and I’m so glad I did. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I guess the saying is true — mom really does know what’s best.

The sneakers that traveled to and fro with me were none other than the viral Dr. Scholl’s Savoy style that I only wish I had worn sooner. Hey, I guess better late than never, right? And before you say, Dr. Scholl’s is a brand for mom’s, I say, think again. Even if it were, that’s a good thing, because like I said before: Mom knows best, and I’ll gladly follow suit.

The second I put the Dr. Scholl’s sneakers on, I forgot I was wearing them. They felt so lightweight, but it wasn’t only the weight that made them so comfy — it was the interior, too. Inside, there’s a plush foam insole that beats out all other insoles I’ve tried in sneakers; it’s cushy and feels so bouncy. Not to mention, said insole also had built-in arch support as well as a molded heel cup that shapes to your foot. No wonder they felt like they were custom-made for me.

The inside is top-notch, but the outside is all about comfort, too — with, of course, a mix of cool. If you think these Dr. Scholl’s look similar to those famous Nike Air Force 1s, I’m with you. They have a similar basketball court-inspired silhouette, which gives them that aforementioned cool factor, with a thick, chunky sole that’s functional, too. The EVA-cushioned base is lightweight while still providing ample support and bounce with each step.

I wore these at home in Minnesota and for my flight back to New York City, but I’ll absolutely be making these my go-to travel sneakers as my summer adventures near (like my wedding in Italy!) And I’m clearly not alone in these sentiments; so many Amazon shoppers say they’re the perfect travel shoes.

“I bought these for a trip to Japan, and I literally wore them walking around the city all day and didn’t feel a thing,” wrote one reviewer. They added, “They’re really cute, and the platform part of the style made them the best traveling shoes ever!”

Another noted, “Wore these all over Europe for our summer vacation. The shoes held up so well, protected my feet, and looked great with a variety of outfits.” Honestly, that’s all you can ask for in a really good travel sneaker.

I’ll be wearing these all over Italy. Are you going to join me? Shop my go-to Savoy sneakers, as well as a few other famous styles from Dr. Scholl’s that are selling out fast.
